Dogs and Devils brings the slugfest that was Italy into sharp focus. The forces that landed at Anzio and those Germans hurled against them clashed across the valleys and mountains of Italy, and for the allies asaulting horrendous defences, cracking a hole in the German lines and fending off desperate counterattacks consumed their army's efforts. The elite Hermann Goring Fallschirmpanzerdivision was released against the massive firepower and indomitable spirit of the 'Devil's Brigade', the First Special Service Force, and the 3rd Infantry Division of the Americans resulting in some of the bloodiest battles of the whole war.
