Events @ the Battlefields

The Hordes/Warmachine Welsh Open 2012 is the third installment of a hugely successful event that has been run by the infamous Martyn Jenkins for the last two years but this year due to Martyn's other committments will be run by the equally able Jamie Perkins.

The Welsh Open returns to you again with a large helping of prize support and an extensive set of awards to be won including the popular top 3 prizes for best painted army!

There are a few small changes this year but on the whole the theme event will stick close to its roots of being a Steamroller event with a very slight twist: Steamroller 2012 (bear in mind that the final rules have not yet been published).

Additional Notes

You will be required to use each list at least once over the course of the event. Character Restrictions will most likely be in use however for full details we are still awaiting on STR 2012. In addition we will be bringing in the scoring system that has been successfully trialed twice at FQD which involves a slightly modifed version of Strength of Schedule.

* 1 Achievement card The Achievement card is a fun activity for you to complete.

Earn the satisfaction of completing all the tasks over the course of the Prerelease! Players will also be able to see if they can survive the horrors of Innistrad at the Prerelease! Some players will be monsters, and the rest will be humans. Every time a monster wins a match against a human, that human becomes a monster and tries to turn more humans over to their side! See who Commands the Night at the end of the event!

Don't forget the Battlefields now has a fully stocked licensed bar!

SmogCon, a new UK Warmachine and Hordes three day convention explodes onto the gaming scene with three days of steam powered, fury stacked play.

The event will host a number of competitive events, leading to a Sunday masters play off, covering hardcore, steamroller and some more... unusual events. All winners will recieve one of a very small number of limited edition SmogDice, with all participants earning a standard SmogDice.

If you are a more casual player, the SmogPit will run through all three days, giving you the chance to have open and friendly games with others at the event. However, the SmogPit will also allow you to win honour for your chosen faction as we tally all the results from the weekend to see which faction gains control of the Thornwood (for now at least). Each session will also earn you one of the standard SmogDice.

For the painters among us there are three different events of note. Firstly, we will be holding the first SmogCon masters painting competitions. With four catagories there should be something for all keen painters to inspire them to participate. Winners of the event will recieve a ltd edition SmogDice.

If you are up for some frantic painting, there will be a series of speed painting rounds, leading to a Sunday final to find who is the best painter under the strict time pressures of a speed paint. Winners of the final will earn a limited edition SmogDice.

Finally, we are lucky to have three sessions of open painting which will be held under the expert eye of several Golden Demon winners (and maybe even a surprise special guest).

The event is shaping upto be unlike anything else currently offered in the UK with all night gaming, painting and general warmachine and hordes goodness. Plus SmogDice!

Initially there will be only 80 tickets on sale. Please read the rules pack for the full details as there are a variety of formats, events and games to consider. Once you have bought and recieved confirmation of your ticket, please contact us to register which events you wish to participate in.

To make it easier to participate, Friday Night Magic events are open to anyone and feature the Standard Constructed, Sealed Deck or Booster Draft formats.

Usual Entry fee is 3.60 which includes a booster of your choice (unless its a Draft)

Every Tuesday we hold a regular MTG games evening. Tuesdays are usually Standard format, however every outher Tuesday, we run a Draft in addition to Standard. Thursday nights are usually casual play and Modern. Entry also gets you a free booster of your choice!

Tuesday and Thursday nights are our regular weekly gaming nights. Open until late, we have a large gaming community which desend on us to play in The Battlefields. All types of games are played from Warhammer to Ancients to Warmachine, Malifaux etc.

If you are new to the area or have just found us, come down and meet the crowd. We have 2 resident clubs namely the Border Princes and the Viet Taff who frequent The Battlefields as well as dozens of unaffilliated players who come down regularly for the gaming fix!
