(Note: End Time: PTQ's tend to be a long affair. Top 8 matches will probably not start until 7-8pm depending on number of players. Please be prepared for the finals to happen late into the evening)

Tournament Structure

The structure for qualifier tournaments feeding Pro Tour Theros will be modified Swiss-style, with top players after the Swiss rounds playing in a single-elimination playoff for prizes and invitation(s).

Format

• Standard constructed
• Deck lists are required

Tournament Length

• Swiss rounds will each be 50 minutes in length
• Single-elimination matches will have no time limit.
• Number of Swiss rounds based on attendance according to the following chart:

Advancement

• All players may participate in all Swiss rounds.
• The top players after the final Swiss round will advance to the single-elimination playoff. The number of players that advanced to the playoff is based on the number of players in the event (see chart above)

Playoff

• Playoff matches will be best 2 of 3
• Playoff matches will be single-elimination
• While there are no time limits in the playoff rounds, players are expected to play at a reasonable pace and finish their matches within 60 minutes
• Where necessary, the standings after the Swiss rounds will still be used to determine final order in the standings.
• For the first game of each playoff match, the player who finished higher in the Swiss rounds chooses either to play first or to play second. For subsequent games in each playoff match, the usual Play/Draw rule applies (loser of the previous game decides whether to play first in the next game).

• The Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and Magic: The Gathering Infraction Procedure Guide are in effect for this event unless specifically overruled by information in this Format Document
• Players are responsible for bringing their own method of tracking life totals, cards sleeves, and appropriate counters or tokens.

Prizes

• The winner of each event will receive a bonus of 1,000 Planeswalker Points and an invitation and travel award* to Pro Tour Theros
• Top 8 playoff participants receive an exclusive Pro Tour Qualifier Top 8 playmat
• 4 Boosters per entrant into prize pool

*Travel

The players eligible to receive a travel award will receive instructions from Wizards of the Coast regarding whom they must contact and the deadline by which they must arrange their travel awards. Wizards of the Coast will not refund travel made outside this service. Wizards of the Coast reserves the right to award a cash equivalent award in lieu of any travel award in its sole discretion.

All travel itineraries must be from the international airport nearest the player's home and to the host city of the Pro Tour, and must include all the dates of that event. No award will be substituted if member is unable to participate. All other expenses are the responsibility of the member and may include, without limitation, accommodations, ground transportation, taxes, itinerary change fees, passport and visa fees.

This award must be redeemed through member's arrangement of travel itinerary no later than (30) days before departure. Failure to complete travel arrangements as directed by Wizards of the Coast prior to this deadline will result in forfeiture of the award. Every member receiving a travel award must provide to Wizards of the Coast an executed liability release, the appropriate US taxation form (W9 or W8) (or have one on file), current contact information (https://webapp.wizards.com/login.aspx), proof of ID and passport (when required by international destination). In all cases, all such documentation must be provided to Wizards of the Coast, or previously on file, at least thirty (30) days before departure. Failure to timely provide such documentation will result in forfeiture of the award.

Players under the age of eighteen (18) at the time of the Pro Tour will receive a cash equivalent award in lieu of expenses, paid air ticket, and/or hotel accommodations. Such player must still attend, compete, and be listed in the finish of the tournament or forfeit this award.

Food & Drink:

A Fully Licensed Bar is on site providing soft and alcoholic drinks, snacks and confectionary.

 Firestorm Games will be the venue for the Dreadball Welsh Regional Heat.

It aims to appeal both to those attending one of their first Dreadball tournaments, whilst still setting a challenge to more experienced players.

The top teams will automatically qualify for a free place in the Grand Final - the Superbowl, to be held at Tabletop Nation on the 9th and 10th November 2013!

Jwardiff 2013 - the first ever Bushido tournament in the world returns for a second year to the Battlefields in Firestorm Games in Cardiff. An entry level tournament for GCT's Bushido miniature game, consisting of four games over one day at 35 and 55 rice levels to discover who is the greatest Daimyo of the Jwar isles! 

As a preulde to the Hordes/Warmachine WTC, Firestorm is hosting a warm up event on the 13th-14th July. Using the WTC Rulespack, teams of 5 players are invited to come and battle it out against the offical Wales Team who are fine tuning their lists and preparing to conquer the world! Come and stop them.... If you have a pair...

Stormydd Tan Warhammer Fantasy Tournament returns again for 2013!

Run by the Border Princes, this years Stormydd Tan event looks like it will be as good as ever!

Premium Card FOIL Prizes are allocated by WotC each month which are given out each Friday. The cards often feature original flavor text and updated wordings. To make it easier to participate, Friday Night Magic events are open to anyone and feature the Standard Constructed, Sealed Deck or Booster Draft formats.

Usual Entry fee is 3.60 which includes a booster of your choice (unless its a Draft)

We currently run 2 FNM sessions, the first at 5pm (3 rounds) the second at 7pm (4+ rounds) Buy a combined ticket on the night for £5 (which gets you 2 boosters!)

Every Tuesday we hold a regular MTG games evening. Tuesdays are usually Standard format, however every outher Tuesday, we run a Draft in addition to Standard. Thursday nights are usually casual play and Modern. Entry also gets you a free booster of your choice!

Tuesday and Thursday nights are our regular weekly gaming nights. Open until late, we have a large gaming community which desend on us to play in The Battlefields. All types of games are played from Warhammer to Ancients to Warmachine, Malifaux etc.

If you are new to the area or have just found us, come down and meet the crowd. We have 2 resident clubs namely the Border Princes and the Viet Taff who frequent The Battlefields as well as dozens of unaffilliated players who come down regularly for the gaming fix!
