The 25pdr was the mainstay of British artillery forces in the desert. Despite its primary role as an artillery piece it quite often found itself in the anti-tank role when the little 2pdr couldn't hold off the up-armoured Panzers. The 25pdr Mk 2 quickly entered service with the 8th Army and the rest of the British forces after the loss of most of the 25pdr Mk 1 (18/25pdr) during the evacuation of Dunkirk.The 25pdr was quick to put into action and devastating to anyone on the receiving end!
