Community Content Roundup: News, Reviews & Painting Pointers!

Hey there tabletop gamers! We're back with another community content roundup featuring painting tutorials, terrain builds, battle reports, news, reviews, unboxings and so much more from some of your favourite creators, all of whom we're proud to say are members of the Firestorm Games Affiliate Program. Get stuck in and discover something new, but take care - these contents are HOT!

Miniature Hobbyist

Miniature Hobbyist has combined 3D printing with traditional hobby materials and techniques to create an absolutely stunning Blood Bowl stadium. Whether you're into Blood Bowl or not, watching this masterpiece come together is a real treat.

Warhipster

The brand new Attilan Rough Riders are the subject of another wonderfully presented and easy to follow painting tutorial from Warhipster. Warhipster's channel is hugely prolific - if you're after a paitning guide for a particular Warhammer 40k, Age of Sigmar or Middle Earth kit, there's a good chance you'll find what you're looking for here.

Crooked Staff Terrain

Crooked Staff Terrain may well be the master of traditional card terrain building techniques, and in this video you'll learn how to create a simple but very effective obelisk for your games of D&D, Pathfinder or Warhammer.

The Tabletop Alliance

We're all excited for what Henry Cavill is going to bring to the world of Warhammer and, in their newest video, The Tabletop Alliance speculates about what the promised Henry Cavill Warhammer TV series might look like.

Elstonation

Back with another irreverent look at the world of hobbying, Elstonation discusses the question of how much effort you should put into painting your Warhammer armies, using the Iron Warriors force he recently painted for Chapter Master Valrak as an example. Warning: strong profanity from the start with this one!

Tabletop Skirmish Games

The release of Kill Team: Soulshackle has created a huge amount of buzz, but what do you do if you haven't been able to grab yourself a copy yet? You could do a lot worse than checking out this great unboxing video by Tabletop Skirmish Games - you can almost smell that fresh plastic!

Say Hi Paul

Sticking with the unboxing theme, Say Hi Paul presents his unboxing of the much-anticipated and gorgeously designed Angron kit for Warhammer 40K. There's nothing to get angry about here - it's a treat!

Wargore TV

Skaven and Nighthaunt Clash in another great battle report from Wargore TV. If you're a fan of Warhammer Age of Sigmar this is well worth checking out. Ben's Skaven attempt to desecrate the lands of the dead, but Adam's Nighthaunt refuse to let the rat men take another inch of ground without paying for it in blood first!

Hammer of War

Another fantastic battle report for Warhammer Age of Sigmar here, this time from Hammer of War! It's Tzeentch versus the Idoneth Deepkin. Come for gloriously daemonic intro, stay for the fascinating tactics and the story that unfolds before your eyes on the tabletop.

Mordian Glory

Mordian Glory is back with another hugely insightful tactica covering the best way to use your Astra Militarum commissars in Warhammer 40K. As always there's a huge amount of detail, well presented. You're bound to pick up something you can put to use in your games.

Modelling For Advantage

This Bolt Action battle report from Modelling For Advantage is a classic, whether you're a veteran of the game or not. With a tactical game played out on a gorgeously modelled board and all of it beautifully shot, this is a fascinating watch for anyone with even a passing interest in WW2 or tabletop war games.

The Remembrancer

If you play Ultramarines in Warhammer 40K, you'll likely be more than familiar with the big name characters like Marneus Calgar and Tigurius. Less well known heroes can be equally fascinating, as The Remembrancer proves in this great lore video covering the 'censured sergeant' Aeonid Thiel.

More From Games

More From Games is a new content creator on the scene and is definitely one to watch. Check out the latest in his brand new 'start painting' series covering the contents of the Hero Quest box, in which he shares a simple and effective technique for painting zombies. We're looking forward to the rest of the series and seeing all these great miniatures painted up on the tabletop.

Hobby Jackal

In this video, Hobby Jackal shares his thoughts on the newly revealed salamander miniature for the upcoming Seraphon range revamp for Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Hobby Jackal effortlessly and charmingly turns what in lesser hands would be a dry description of a pretty picture into something much more engaging, comparing the new kit to its past iterations and making some great nostalgic callbacks. A fun watch, especially if you're a classic Lizardmen fan!

Arbitor Ian

Is painting Warhammer art? That's the question Arbitor Ian asks in his recent video. Needless to say, it's not one with a simple 'yes or no' answer, and Ian unpacks this loaded question in a way that's thoughtful, interesting and nuanced. It'll give you plenty to think about.

TableTopReady

TableTopReady specialises in top quality painting tutorial vids, but this time he's doing something a little different - a deep dive into Duncan Rhodes' Two Thin Coats range of paints (which we stock here at Firestorm, as it happens). Part range review, part painting guide, part Warhammer Fantasy nostalgia fest and part cult initiation, this is truly entertaining stuff!

ESO Tabletop - Painting with Danny

You may know Danny from his truly massive ESO channel (2 million+ subscribers!) covering video games like Skyrim and Fallout 4, but did you know he also has a separate channel for tabletop games? You do now! In his latest vid, Danny shows us how to quickly paint an entire army using various products and techniques to speed things along. It's great to see Danny branching out into new types of content and we can't wait to see more.

The Brush and Boltgun

We come now to The Brush And Boltgun, another prolific creator of painting tutorials. This one featuring the Dead Men of Dunharrow from the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game is a shining example of how you can achieve a great result using just a few paints and some simple-but-effective techniques.

Exile Squadron

Dylan's Exile Squadron blog is something that fans of Star Wars: X-Wing should really take the time to check out. In his latest article, Danny shares not one but two battle reports covering all the action from his latest games.

Realm of Plastic

There's all sorts of great Warhammer content on the Realm of Plastic website, but it's probably best known for its top-class name generators. The site has recently posted one for the Warhammer Fantasy fans, with this Kislev character name generator. Bring on The Old World!

Tier Three Podcast - A Blood Bowl Podcast

Blood Bowl fans won't want to miss the Tier Three Podcast! In their latest episode the guys chat new star players. Their newest episode and complete back catalogue can be found on Spotify.

Tabletop Games UK

Tabletop Games UK is a great resource for news and reviews covering many different tabletop games, products and systems, including (but certainly not limited to) Warhammer, Kings of War and all kinds of board games. This insightful review of the new A Gentlemen's War box set for Bolt Action is a good example, but you should check out everything else the site has to offer too - there's a lot!

BoardGamesBren

We love board games here at Firestorm Games, and BoardGamesBren has to be the top place to go for board game news and reviews. Not just board games either, as this in-depth review of the newest supplement for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay demonstrates.

Age of Miniatures

Boarding actions are a hot topic in the world of Warhammer 40K right now, but if you haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet this how to play article from Age of Miniatures is a must-read.

Tale Of Painters

Matt varnish is both a great way to protect your miniatures and to remove that weird shiny look you sometimes get when you've painted a model. But with so many products on the market, which one should you choose? Tale of Painters gets to grips with exactly this question in his review of the 5 best matt varnishes for Warhammer miniatures.

Cadian Shock

Cadians face off against Orks in this wonderfully documented battle report from Cadian Shock. It's a quick read, but what really makes it special are the accompanying photographs. If you're into seeing hordes of brilliantly painted miniatures arrayed against each other on the tabletop (and who isn't?!) then you owe it to yourself to take a look.
