Additionally, the number of cards in future expansions may differ from those listed above, as new sets are continuously being released to expand the Pokemon TCG universe.

How many cards are in Pokemon TCG Generations?

The Pokemon TCG Generations set, also known as the "Generations Expansion," was a special expansion released in 2016 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Pokemon TCG. This set was unique as it was not a part of the regular numbered expansion series but instead consisted of reprints and new cards inspired by various generations of Pokemon.

The Pokemon TCG Generations set had a total of 115 cards, including 25 Secret Rare cards. The set featured reprints of classic cards from the early days of the Pokemon TCG, as well as new cards featuring iconic Pokemon from different generations.

As this set was a limited-edition celebratory release, it had a smaller card pool compared to regular expansions in the Pokemon TCG series. Players and collectors appreciated it for its nostalgic value and unique artwork, making it a cherished addition to their collections.

How can you tell if a Pokemon card is Gen 1?

In the context of the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG), "Gen 1" typically refers to the first generation of Pokemon cards, which includes cards from the original Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil expansions. These cards were released in the late 1990s and featured Pokemon from the original 151 species introduced in the Pokemon Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow video games.

To identify if a Pokemon card is from Gen 1 (the original generation), you can look for the following characteristics:

Set Symbol: Cards from the Base Set, Jungle, and Fossil expansions will have specific set symbols on the right side of the illustration box. The Base Set symbol is a Poké Ball, Jungle symbol is a jungle leaf, and Fossil symbol is a fossil mark.

Number: The set number is indicated in the bottom right corner of the card. For example, cards from the Base Set have numbers like "XX/102," Jungle cards have "XX/64," and Fossil cards have "XX/62."

Pokemon Artwork: The artwork on Gen 1 cards will feature Pokemon from the original 151 species. These Pokemon are from the Kanto region, and their designs will reflect the style of the first-generation video games.

Card Layout: Gen 1 cards have a specific card layout with the Pokemon's name, HP (Hit Points), and type displayed at the top of the card. Attacks and other details are listed below the artwork.

Back Design: The back of Gen 1 Pokemon cards will have a specific pattern with a blue border and Pokemon-related elements.

It's important to note that there have been reprints and re-releases of Gen 1 cards in later sets and promotional products. However, these cards will still feature the same original artwork and design elements, making them easily recognizable as part of the first generation of Pokemon cards.
