The Khunara Campaign: A Horus Heresy Narrative Event
The Horus Heresy game system has really taken off since the big relaunch last year. For veteran players it's breathed new life into a much-loved game, and new generals the world over are discovering the visceral thrill of marine-on-marine action for the first time.
With so much buzz around the game, it's no wonder we're seeing so many great Horus Heresy events popping up. One of the most exciting in this year's calendar is coming up in September, right here at Firestorm Games - The Khunara Campaign narrative event, brought to you by the Lost Legions Podcast.
The Lost Legions Podcast
The Lost Legions Podcast is founded by two very enthusiastic Heresy gamers - Jason Mullins and Peter Dunn.
Jason got into the hobby when he was a kid and then found his love for it again after university when he started working for a games company that had a Warhammer table in its breakroom. Since then, it’s been full steam ahead on the hobby. Jason loves fluff and game mechanics and can’t wait to incorporate them into the Khunara Campaign event.
Pete started the long path into the hobby with the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game (known as the Lord of the Rings SBG back then), which lead him down the path to Warhammer and then the Horus Heresy. An experienced events organiser, Pete is looking forward to bending his event design skills to this new challenge.
The Khunara Campaign
The Khunara Campaign: Act 1 - First Strike! will be held at the Battlefields at Firestorm Games Cardiff on Saturday 2nd September 2023.
In the Khunara Campaign event, participants will join the fight for the Khunara Subsector on either the loyalist side or the traitor side. Players will be able to pick their path through the warzone, defending planets and fighting for their faction’s dominance. There'll be awards to reflect the most valorous or villainous of players, which may even have an impact on the narrative direction of later acts in the campaign. All of the missions will revolve around the narrative of the clash for the Khunara Subsector.

An event pack will be provided for participants with all the details you'll need. Players are encouraged to bring along a standard marine sized mini to represent themselves on the map, but it's not essential. The only other thing players need to bring along is a copy of their army list - the rest is narrative fun and rolling dice! Jason and Pete can't wait to start unfolding the narrative of the Khunara Subsector and guide people though the warzone as their armies gain experience and abilities from each battle they undertake.
If you've never attended an event like this before, don’t hesitate! This is the kind of event where you can jump in, write your own fluff and become part of the narrative. Its great to start meeting people in the Heresy scene - they're always welcoming and happy to give you a great game.
